What information we collect

Passport checker inputs: issue date, expiry date, travel dates, destination.
Reminder service: email address, the expiry date of your passport or GHIC (European health card), and reminder timing.
Account data: email address and encrypted password.
Optional data: passport holders, trips, and preferences.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, usage logs, and App Store link click counts.

Reminder service

Reminder emails are optional and can be cancelled at any time via unsubscribe links. Delivery cannot be guaranteed.

You can create an account to manage reminders, passport holders, and trips in one place.

Marketing emails (only if you opt in)

We only send marketing emails, such as news about new guides, features, our iPhone app and the paid Travel Planner, if you tick the separate, optional box saying you want them. Your reminders never depend on it. We record when and where you opted in. You can stop them at any time with the link in any marketing email, or in your account settings; your reminders will still arrive. We never sell or share your email address.

We use cookies for essential functionality, analytics, and advertising. More detail is available in our Cookie Policy.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

Google uses advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to personalise ads. You can opt out via Google Ads Settings.

Site statistics

We keep our own simple, cookie-free statistics so we can see which pages are useful and how people find the site. For each page view we record the page, the date and time, where the visit came from (for example a search engine or a link in one of our reminder emails), your browser type, and the first part of your IP address (for example 203.0.113.0) to help us spot automated traffic. We never store your full IP address. To count visitors, we use a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day, so you can't be followed from one day to the next.

When you run a passport check we count the destination and whether the result was valid. We do not keep the dates you entered. If our checker is shown on another website, we record that website's address. These statistics are not shared with anyone and are not used for advertising.

We do not sell your data. We may share data only with:

Legal authorities if required

Data retention

Reminders: stored while active. Reminders that are never confirmed are deleted: we send one final email, then delete the details 30 days later if they're still unconfirmed
Accounts: until deleted
App Store click analytics: stored as aggregate reporting data; raw IP addresses are not stored for this tracker
Site statistics: browser type and partial IP address cleared after 30 days; all statistics deleted after 13 months
